Do you feel invisible?

Although I have been blogging for over a year, I still don’t really have quite the readership that some of my fellow blogging buddies do. So I did a little digging and turns out, that you can apply simple public relations tactics to increase your readership and effectively market your blog.

Here are some of the top tips to remember from some of the best bloggers and PR Pro’s I know.

Take time to explore your niche. Surfing is important according to the Friday traffic report, an excellent resource for bloggers.

Explore your options. There are a ton of resources to help you says ProBlogger. Take advantage of what is available. You should never not do something with your blog because you don’t know how.

Long does not equal great. Just keep it interesting. You don’t have to write a windy 2 page post every time. Short and sweet can be just as effective if you keep it entertaining or useful. Remember, everyone wants to know how you can benefit them. It is human nature, so go ahead and write that short post, it might just be what someone is looking for.

KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE! I can’t tell you how this was hammered into my head in every PR and journalism class I took. Everything comes down to this, whether you are giving a speech, selling a car or writing a blog post. Tailor your approach to your audience and they will thank you for it. (via referrals to their friends, colleagues and family)

Post on a regular schedule. Even if you have to write a few to stay ahead, set up a schedule and stick to it. We are creatures of habit, and if you always post on a Tuesday then your readers will always look to read your post then. If you are all over the board, then few readers will consider you a sure thing. They may like your blog, but it won’t become a regular “thing” for them, which is key in maintaining an audience.

Don’t be a lurker. This was a great post. Get out there and comment. Make yourself known and you will attract traffic back to your own blog. You have to be bold and confident. Know that even on the web, the golden rule still applies, as well as the laws of karma. What goes around truly comes around, and if you put your comments out there, they will come back to you.

Just keep going. If you love blogging then stick with it.
